Practical Joker

by Peter Last

NOTE: I wrote this story for a composition assignment in 2000. I have rendered the story here in its original text, including misspellings. I would also like to note that though this story is based on real life, I don’t recall ever enjoying drinking vinegar nor my brother being this terrible.

Once there was a boy named Joe who liked to play practical jokes on his family. Peter, his brother, liked to drink vinegar. Joe thought it was horibal to drink viniger but he got a joke out of it. One day Joe put baking soda in Peters vinegar cup so when Peter put vinegar in his vinegar cup there was a volcano. Peter saw Joe laughing. Peter said that was not funny. But Joe though it was funny.

At dinner Joe filled the water glasses. Joe filled his sister Rachel’s glass with hot water. When Rachel drank it she said that was not funny. But Joe thought it was the funnyest joke he had ever played. At breakfast Joe put a string by his dads chair. His dad asked who did it but Joe just smiled and thought that was funny. Joes mom often went to sleep in her chair. Joe put some needls in it. When dad went to bed Joe went to the stairs. Mom started to go to sleep. Mom got up fast. Mom turned her head and saw Joe go up the steps but she did not see who it was. Next day Joe made a trap for his one year old sister. He forgot about it and got hit. He never played practi cal jokes again.
